Summer Programs
Book Bug Programs
Kids, ages 11 and under, can make a big splash this summer by taking place in the library’s Book Bug programs. Held six times throughout the summer, these programs keep kids engaged in reading throughout the summer months with programs that showcase some fun summer titles with games, activities, and programs that fit all ages.
Plus, attending 4 or more of the library programs qualifies participants for a field trip! This year’s trip is scheduled for Friday, August 12. The field trip will be to the Henry Vilas Zoo and the Madison Children’s Museum. More information regarding the field trip will be available in August.
Book Squad
A reading club for kids ages 6-10, that will meet five times throughout the summer at 4:00pm. Each meeting will have a theme, suggested books will be made based on that theme, but read whatever book you’d like!
Who is Book Squad for?

#ReadingIsWorthIt
Let’s make time for ourselves this summer and commit to reading at least 20 minutes a day for two weeks. Fill out and sign a commitment form then, starting June 6 track your reading for just two weeks. If you are able to take the time every day, that’s great! Check in with a staff member to share what you were able to read in the two weeks. Make note of any challenges you had to overcome to make your 20 minutes of reading everyday happen.
Complete a two week challenge and earn a prize. Complete more than one challenge and be entered into the grand prize drawing! You can get up to five entries into the drawing this summer.
Challenges should be completed by August 27 and returned no later than Friday, September 2. Drawing will take place on Saturday, September 3, with winners contacted by September 10.
