They say home is where someone runs to greet you. In my home, that could be any (and usually all) of my five beloved pets. It all started with Layla- my first puppy. After doing a bunch of research on dog breeds, I decided that I was the most interested in Australian Shepherds. Their intelligence, loyalty, and beauty drew me right in. Within a few weeks, I had located a litter of pups in a nearby town and set up a visit “just to see” I said. When the day came and I met the cutest bunch of fur babies I had ever seen…I was in love. I found myself writing out a deposit check before I left.

10 years later, Layla is still my best friend. Through thick and thin. Good times and not- so- great times. New homes, new jobs, kids growing up and moving away. The love of a dog is unconditional, and I consider myself so very lucky to have her. Our fur family now includes 3 kitty “sisters” (Sami, Fancy, and Tango), and her “brother” Leroy. With National Pet month coming up in May, I chose a fun and easy pet centered DIY project for this weeks take and make. Join me today, April 20th at 4PM where I will walk through the process of making a couple of fun fleece toys (one for cats and one for dogs) that your fur babies will love. If you don’t have a pet and would still like to join in, your project could be donated to a local shelter! If you’d like to register for the live event, you may sign up here: bit.ly/3a5hKET. If you can’t join me live, you can always access the video on the library’s YouTube page: AMPLWI
